Meridien Hotel TV - I had been searching for almost 3 days at this point for an internet access which would allow me to plug in either my laptop, or my camera. Imagine my surprise/delight at seeing this bigscreen TV AND an ethernet jack across the room from it. Not bad for a hotel that I thought I had booked for $190/3 days. (3rd day was free for some reason as part of the Expedia special...)Too bad it wasn't my hotel:) I had checked into the wrong hotel (and they didn't catch it until later that night when I came back..)

Makeshaft WLAN antenna booster - I was watching a movie on my laptop while eating when I noticed that my wlan was picking up a very weak signal. The signal kept coming and going and wasn't that reliable. (I couldn't keep it for more then 10-15 seconds at a time..) The cover of my meal was made of alluminum, so I made a makeshaft antennna - it actually worked! Got the SNR to go as high as 16 (between 12-16) whereas before it was 1 or 0.

The WLAN ended up being TMOBILE Hotspots - $6/hour or $25/day. Not too bad a deal considering that I had spent nearly $20/day on internet cafe's since I was working. Problem was, the signups were in Germany, so I'm wondering what I *really* signed up for:)
